A young girl, aged 11, and a 34-year-old woman were both stabbed in central London.

Liz Jackson and Harry Low from BBC News report that a young girl, 11, and a 34-year-old woman were both stabbed in central London.

An 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman have been stabbed in Leicester Square, London. According to a post on X by the Met Police, a suspect has been arrested and taken into custody, and authorities do not believe there are any additional suspects at large. Both victims have been transported to a major trauma center, though their current condition is not yet known. A shop worker who intervened described hearing a scream and then tackling the attacker, managing to kick the knife away.

Police officers remain at the scene in Leicester Square, one of London's busiest tourist areas. Abdullah, 29, who works at TWG Tea in the area, recounted how he intervened to stop the attacker, who had blood on his face and chest.

"I heard a scream and went outside, where I saw a man with a knife," Abdullah explained. "I immediately jumped on him, grabbed his hand, and brought him to the ground, kicking the knife away."
He noted that a few other men also came to assist, holding the attacker down for about four to five minutes. Abdullah said he acted on impulse, without time to think, describing the experience as "horrible" and adding, "It's terrible to see something like this, especially to a child."
